Our Team
Bryan Murphy
Bryan Murphy owns and operates Prestige Allied Moving and Storage in Bend, Oregon. He is a father of 3 kids, one of whom was born with a life-threatening disease. Previously, Bryan was Director of hunts and trips for Central Oregon Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation for over 10 years. About 9 years ago, he recognized the opportunity to assist Hunt of a Lifetime (HOAL) and found a passion for working with kids who wish to fulfill a hunting dream. He has hunted across the U.S. for various species but now gets more enjoyment helping to introduce kids to the outdoors. In 2011, he began guiding the Oregon HOAL kids with Tyler and they became good friends. After recognizing a need for more non-profits like HOAL, they began their own to include opportunities for both terminally ill children and children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.
Tyler Saunders
Tyler is a retired builder, accomplished wildlife artist, volunteer guide for Hunt of a Lifetime (HOAL), and currently on the Best of the West pro-staff. He has organized and directed many children’s outdoor programs and has guided many kids to the dream bulls and bucks in Oregon. He has dedicated over 11 years to kids of HOAL that are suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Tyler is now spearheading and directing the new program Children of Circumstance Outdoors (C.O.C.O.) which has a similar mission to HOAL and wishes to expand the hunting opportunities to kids who are terminally ill or face life without a parent or mentor in other states.
Brooke Watson
Brooke Watson is Bryan’s daughter and has been working with her father and Tyler since the start of C.O.C.O. She began bird hunting at the age of 7 and shot her first big game animal at 9 years old. She has been an avid hunter ever since. She is now 25 years old and serving in the Air National Guard while working on her second Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Imaging. Brooke has always had a passion for hunting and after seeing her little brother struggle with a childhood disease, she was quick to jump on board with the idea of the C.O.C.O. non-profit. She helps to guide hunts while also upkeeping the social media/website and occasionally carries a camera on hunts. She enjoys working with such strong children who have a dream to become experienced outdoorsmen.
Kellen Murphy
Kellen Murphy is Bryan’s only son. He helps out when C.O.C.O needs an extra hand, and of course, because it’s a great time! He has been shooting guns as long as he can remember, and he killed his first pronghorn at age 9. Kellen is 21 years old and is a diesel mechanic at Pape Machinery. He was born with a rare disease known as Hirschprung’s disease. In his younger life he struggled with it day in and day out, as he grew up hunting became a passion that allowed him to free his mind and do what he loves. He inspired his father to help out other kids who want to fulfill their dream of hunting, and who are suffering from a terminal illness. He loves helping to provide the amazing experience of hunting to these kids with the same desire.
John Bennett
My name is John Bennett and I’m from La Pine, OR. My love of the outdoors started when I was just a young kid. You could always find me outside, fishing, hunting or wishing I was hunting or fishing. I would get so excited the night before each outing that I couldn’t sleep. Even now, in my forties, I still have a hard time sleeping on the nights before hunting season opens. I spend hundreds of hours in the off season scouting and studying maps and migration patterns. Now that my kids are old enough to hunt, my focus the last few years has been on them and teaching them about how to be good stewards of the lands that provide for us. When I was first introduced to C.O.C.O, I knew that it was going to be a life changing experience, not only for the kids, but for me as well. One of the best feelings is just watching how the kids light up when they get to experience the thrill of the hunt. The sense of accomplishment and pride they feel is only outmatched by the pride that I feel for them. I truly do believe in this organization and I can’t wait to help more kids experience the joy of the outdoors.
